How Not To Prepare For Christmas (#803, Advent 2)

Fr. Joel Homilies Leave a Comment

Second Sunday of Advent (Year B) • We want to be prepared for Christmas so we put up decorations, send cards, buy gifts, and bake cookies. And then a little bell calls to us from the wilderness to remind us: Prepare Your Heart! Our heart is prepared when we focus on the things that really matter, and let go of the things that don’t matter.

(10 Dec 2017)

Point to Ponder: Will this help people to know God? Will it help me to love God more?

Point to Discuss: What if all you got for Christmas was something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read? Talk to a friend, spouse, or parent about a simpler Christmas.

Point for Action: What was your favorite memory last Christmas? How can next Christmas be full of more of those favorite times? Make a concrete change to the way your family celebrates Christmas.
