Mary of the Month (March 2011)

Benjamin Mary of the Month

Being Christian means being united as children of the same Father in heaven; being Catholic means we are all children of the same Immaculate Mother. Italy, like nearly every other Catholic country, has a special love for Mary, and American visitors to Rome are always surprised to encounter random shrines to Our Lady. This image is in a side street by the Palazzo della Cancelleria, not far from Piazza Navona. It is a copy, in mosaic, of the image of Mary Mother of Divine Love, who is venerated in a shrine outside of Rome. The inscription underneath reads Virgine Immaculata Maria Madre del Divino Amore Fateci Santi, which means “Immaculate Virgin Mary Mother of Divine Love Make Us Saints”.

In this picture you can see Mary with some of her children.
