Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Us (#518, Lent 4)

Fr. Joel Homilies

Receive the Light of Christ… when you walk in His light, you can avoid stumbling over the latest fads. The light of God’s merciful love can reach you no matter how far you wander. May you keep the flame of faith alive in your heart. (15 Mar 2015)

FrBenjamin – Baptism gives us new life (Easter Vigil)

Benjamin Homilies

The Easter Vigil recounts three of God’s great moments in history: creating the world, making a covenant with Abraham, and saving the people of Israel from slavery. Greater than all of these things was the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, who saved us from sin and death. Baptism is how God saves us from sin and death and gives us a new life in Christ.

Faith needs to grow – family Mass and baptism (Feb 2)

Benjamin Homilies

The Feast of the Presentation reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world. We have been given our faith at baptism, but our faith is a living thing and it needs to grow. Like other living things, faith needs food, water, and shelter. The food that our faith needs is the Word of God and Holy Communion. The water that our faith needs is prayer. The shelter that our faith needs is the Church.

Son of a gentle God (Baptism of the Lord)

Benjamin Homilies

The moment when Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river (Matthew 4:13-17) reveals to us that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who is exactly like His Father in all things. Jesus is not the son of a violent or fighting god, but the Son of a gentle and peaceful God. In our baptism, we have been adopted as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. As Jesus reveals Himself during His ministry, He also challenges us to become more like Him in our thoughts, in our words, and in our actions.
