October 22nd will officially be the memorial of Blessed Pope John Paul, if you are living in Rome or Poland. The nature of declaring someone “Blessed” is to allow limited public celebration in honor of that person. The prayer for the memorial has been published and if you are a priest but not in Rome or Poland, you’ll just have to say it in the sacristy. (This is my own translation from the Latin text, and not an approved translation).
O God, rich in mercy, who called Blessed Pope John Paul to guide the whole Church, grant that we, instructed by his teaching, may confidently open our hearts to the saving grace of Christ, the only Redeemer of man, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Amen.
